REGULARITIES OF THE TRANSITION FROM CHANNELING TO RANDOM CONDITIONS FOR FAST PROTONS TRANSMITTING SINGLE CRYSTALS

Computer Monte-Carlo simulation of propagation of fast protons through
thin and oriented single-crystal targets is performed to investigate
transformation of the energy distribution
of the transmitted particles under the transition from
channeling to random regime of the propagation process.
Calculations show that this simulation method, with
its unified treatment of both the channeled and dechanneled components
of the transmitted flux, can serve as a good guide to investigate in
detail regularities of the transition between the channeling and
random regimes of propagation of fast charged particles through
oriented single crystals.
