This paper deals with the experimental investigations of the series of sulfur lamps. A sulfur lamp is considered as a new type of optical source. Main properties of the lamp: very high efficiency about 150 lm/W, sun-like radiation specter, moreover, the lamp is an ecologically pure product.
32 sulfur lamps were manufactured and investigated. The model of the processes in working sulfur lamp was developed. It permits to increase considerably time the sulfur lamp being in use.
